The Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 classic line with 4 working stations delivers fast and reliable, due to the particularly high-energy effect of the grinding balls, loss-free grinding results of hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle, tough and moist materials down to colloidal fineness. Depending on the desired final fineness, can the grinding be performed dry, in suspension or in inert gas. Besides for comminution, the Planetary Mill can be utilized for mixing and homogenizing of emulsions and pastes or for mechanical activation and alloying in material research.

The comminution of the material to be ground takes place primarily through the high-energy impact of grinding balls. To achieve this, the grinding bowl, containing the material to be ground and grinding balls, rotates around its own axis on a main disk whilst rotating rapidly in the opposite direction. At a certain speed, the centrifugal force causes the ground sample material and grinding balls to separate from the inner wall of the grinding bowl. The grinding balls then cross the bowl at high speed and further grind the sample material by impact against the opposite bowl wall. In addition, impact between the balls themselves on the sample material adds to the size reduction process. Due to the rotational speed of the main disk up to 400 rpm achieves the PULVERISETTE 5 classic line a centrifugal acceleration of up to 22 g.

The constant transmission ratio, the regulated rotational speed and precision quartz timing, ensure exactly reproducible grinding results. The Safe-Lock System, which is delivered with a torque wrench, enables simple and safe clamping of the grinding bowls - absolutely risk-free.

The Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 classic line can be combined with the GTM-System for measuring of the gas pressure and temperature during grinding. This turns your mill into an analytical measuring system.

The grinding bowl material must also be harder than the material to be ground. In normal cases, grinding bowls and balls of the same material are used. To shorten the grinding time, grinding bowls and balls with a higher density and correspondingly higher impact energy can be used. The specified ball filling per bowl is the minimum quantity and should possibly be increased depending on the material properties. The useful capacity depends on the type of material. In exceptional cases, the number of grinding balls can be reduced by up to 15 %. However, increased abrasion should be expected. In general, smaller grinding balls achieve finer grinding results.

The Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 premium line with 2 grinding stations is the ideal mill for fast wet and dry grinding of hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle and moist samples as well as for mechanical alloying, mixing and homogenising of larger sample quantities with reliable results down into the nano range and an absolutely secure automatic clamping of the grinding bowls.

The comminution takes place primarily through the high-energy impact of grinding balls and partially through friction between grinding balls and the grinding bowl wall. To achieve this, the grinding bowl, containing the material to be ground and grinding balls, rotates around its own axis on a main disk rotating in the opposite direction. At a certain speed, the centrifugal force causes the ground sample material and grinding balls to bounce off the inner wall of the grinding bowl, cross the bowl diagonally at an extremely high speed and impact the material to be ground on the opposite wall of the bowl. The grinding bowls reach twice the speed of the main disk during this process.

Due to the extra strong 2.2 kW drive power and centrifugal acceleration up to 64 g and up to 800 rpm (rotational speed of the bowl 1,600 rpm) are high-performance grindings down into the nano range possible.

Grinding has never been safer: With the completely brand new ServoLOCK clamping of the grinding bowls and the automatic check of the fastening of the bowls inside the mill, man and machine are optimally protected. In the event of impermissible operating states, the machine blocks the start of a grinding and if an imbalance occurs it automatically shuts off.

The revolutionary ServoLOCK is activated with a single hand motion by pressing down the clamp. The actual clamping is motor-driven by the mill. Your advantage: each grinding with always same conditions without screwing or other manual fastening.

The Software MillControl enables the automatic control and monitoring of the Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 premium line. The actual rotational speed and power consumption are checked and documented. By using two EASY GTM-bowls with special lid and transmitter you transform your PULVERISETTE 5 premium line into an analytical measuring system for monitoring pressure and temperature during the grinding process.

The grinding bowls of the Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 premium line are available in the sizes 125 ml, 150 ml, 250 ml, 420 mland 500 ml. This gives you total flexibility for optimal adjustment to your specific sample volume. If you would like to grind four samples simultaneously, simply order four grinding bowls, each with 125 ml or 150 ml volume and 2 stacking rings.

To achieve the best grinding results and for direct prevention of contamination of the samples due to undesired abrasion, all grinding bowls and balls are available in different materials. For grinding in inert gas and for mechanical activation and alloying premium line gassing lids are recommended quickly and safely.
